Comic Con

354th Force Support Squadron presents Comic Con!

Gather your clans, step into your super suit, or gear up and come to the Eielson AFB Comic Con Saturday, September 29 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Spawn into the Eielson City Center and explore two floors filled with activities, card tournaments, virtual reality demos, face painting, and more! Visit an array of vendors and pop culture exhibitors. The library will host obstacle courses for young ones, crafts, and table top gaming. Costume contests, super hero games, trivia contests, and crafts will be held in the Community Center. The Base Theater will be showing free movies all day. Grab a free swag bag and raffle ticket for a chance to win a door prize. Free comics will be given away while supplies last. Tee shirts will be on sale inside the Arts & Crafts Center. Please note, the Eielson Library and Community Center will have special hours, opening at 11 a.m. For more information, please call 377-3174 or visit the Facebook Event for live updates.

Sign-up at the Community Center desk 30 minutes prior to the contest beginning or until filled.

Sign-up no later than the day prior at the Library for Pathfinder/Starfinder gaming. Check-in 10 minutes prior to game beginning.

Any available seats on the day of event will be first come-first served. Magic the Gathering will be walk-in play.

These rules have been created to provide a safe, organized, memorable, and fun costume experience for all involved. Please sign up at the Community Center front desk to be in the costume contest.

1. All contestants must wear/display a Costume Contest Pass. This pass will identify you during judging.
2. No nudity. 354 FSS staff reserves the right to decide what is considered appropriate for the contest audience. Keep in mind children will be in attendance.
3. No profanity, political, or religious statements are allowed on stage including on messages, signs, or clothing.
4. Costumes cannot promote any particular political agenda or message.
5. Costumes cannot endorse any form of real hate group.
6. Costumes cannot defame, misrepresent, or contain disparaging remarks about the United States Armed Forces or any organization associated with it.
7. Costumes cannot depict, and cannot itself be in violation of any law.
8. Contestants are responsible for their own belongings.
9. Everyone should be treated with respect and courtesy, and please be aware to not do anything to rip, tear, or ruin anyone else’s costume.

All contests will be entered into the appropriate category prior to judging. Categories are: Ages 5 and under, Ages 6-12, Ages 13-17, Adults, and Groups of 2 or more.

Opening Date: September 18, 2018
Deadline for Entry: September 28, 2018 at 1800
1. The art contest is open to children ages 13 and under.
2. Limited to one entry per person.
3. Entry sheets can be picked up at the Library starting on September 18, 2018.
4. Contestants are encouraged to decorate their superhero cape using their imagination with materials such as cloth, foil, fringe, sequins, etc.
5. Cape base must be the entry form or attached to the entry form.
6. Deliver completed entry to the Eielson AFB Library no later than 1800 on Friday, September 28, 2018.
7. All entries will be displayed on the back wall of the library during Comic Con.
8. Library and Community Center staff will judge entries after the deadline and award ribbons for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
9. Judging will be based on originality, overall appearance, craftsmanship, use of materials, and creativity.
10. The public is invited to preview the entries at the Library throughout Comic Con.

Winners will be announced at Comic Con on September 29, 2018 at 1430 in the Library.

Pathfinder or Starfinder: 5 people per game; sign up required

Magic the Gathering: walk-in beginning instruction and walk-in game play

1. Gaming is open to individuals age 13 and older and requires no previous experience.
2. Individuals interested in Pathfinder or Starfinder games will need to sign-up at the Library starting September 25, and ending when all slots are full, or by September 28 at 1800.
3. Check-in will be at the Library front desk 10 minutes prior to game beginning (September 29 at 1150).
4. Any available seats on the day of the event will be first-come first-served.
5. All players in Pathfinder or Starfinder game will use pre-generated characters set by the Game Master.
6. Pathfinder and Starfinder games can be expected to last 3-4 hours and any vacated seats will not be filled once the game begins.
7. No use of vulgar or profane language.
8. Game Masters make all final decisions.
